Flappy Bird

About Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird is a mobile game that became a global phenomenon and was developed and released by Vietnamese programmer Nguyen Ha Dong in 2013.

In the game, the player will control a small bird flying through green pipes by tapping the screen to make the bird flap its wings. It sounds simple, but the difficult point and also the addictive factor is:

  • Each touch must be accurate in rhythm, otherwise the bird will fall to the ground or hit the pipe.
  • The game is fast-paced, requiring good reflexes.
  • There is no end to the game, the player just tries to score the highest score.

Control Mechanism Tap to Fly

The player only needs to perform one operation, which is to touch the screen. There are no complicated up, down, left, or right control buttons. Each time the screen is touched, the bird will flap its wings and fly up a short distance. Then, it will immediately be affected by gravity and start falling. The bird always tends to fall, and the player must continuously touch the screen to resist gravity, keeping it flying at the right height.

Objectives and Obstacles

The only goal is to survive as long as possible, passing through pairs of green pipes. These pairs of pipes appear randomly and move from right to left. The distance between the pipes is narrow and their position changes constantly, from high to low and vice versa, creating unexpected challenges. When the bird flies through the gap between a pair of pipes successfully, the player will receive 1 point and hear the characteristic "ding" sound.
